About Us
SESI was formed in 2010 to bring together a team of experienced clean energy experts and development practitioners with an integrated multidisciplinary approach to designing, engineering, operating, and maintaining energy systems using a variety of generation sources focused on clean and renewable technologies.
Projects have covered all stages of the development cycle, from project identification and scoping through prefeasibility and feasibility to implementation, monitoring and evaluation, operations and management.
SESI’s personnel and strategic partners have professional qualifications in engineering, software development, business management and social sciences. Individual staff and key consultants have between five- and forty-years’ experience in developing countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Pacific.
Advisory Board
Mr. Clive Mason
- is an Energy and Environment Expert experienced in environmental assessment and management, clean energy finance and monitoring and evaluation. Formerly the Head of IFC’s Sustainable Financial Markets Facility (SFMF), Clive worked prior to that extensively in the Middle East, SE Asia and China where he ran a number of organizations in the environment industry, involving cleaner production, renewable energy and energy efficiency, and environmental technology transfer. At SFMF, he was responsible for the development and management of a number of E&S sustainability initiatives and capacity building programs and support tools for the financial sector, including the early development phase of the Environmental and Social Assessment Tool (ESAT) tool for private equity funds.
During this time, he was closely involved with Performance Standards implementation and has worked directly with Equator Banks and private equity funds assisting them with implementing the PSs/Equator Principles. He has set-up, developed and then successfully managed many environment/business ventures, effectively blending his technical, managerial and financial skills. He established, and then managed, the Environment Agency for the Dubai Government in the UAE, and has held directorships of Environmental Management Ltd and Halcrow Group (both UK), AEA Technology PLC Singapore and AEA Technology Thailand Ltd, where he was the CEO, and the EC-funded Regional Institute of Environmental Technology in Singapore.
Clive co-authored the book “Environmental Management in Asia” and was a contributor/editor to the IFC banking publications; “Beyond Risk” (2003), “the Promise of Private Equity” (2006) and “Banking on Sustainability” (2007). He holds a degree in Environmental Pollution Science, Brunel University, PG Diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control, NESCOT, Post Grad Diploma in Environmental Health, Tottenham College, London, and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, University of Kent.
Mr. Robert Foster
- is a Renewable Energy Expert with a focus on international development in over three dozen countries. He has served as a contractor for USAID, World Bank, NASA, National Science Foundation, National Renewable Energy Laboratory, Sandia National Laboratories Photovoltaic Center, and for industry, foreign governments, and donors. Mr. Foster is a pioneer in PV systems development having worked with the U.S. National Photovoltaics Program and Sandia National Laboratories supporting PV system research and development.
Mr. Raghu Palavadi Naga
- is an Energy Economist with over a decade of experience working with electricity market operators, government agencies, and donor organizations in several countries. He brings extensive experience in design and analysis of energy markets and policies, and in assessing the investment signals for energy infrastructure. Raghu is well-versed with economic analysis of power assets, and has managed the review of financial viability of projects worth over $8 billion.
