SESI completes and commissions Shah Delir hydro project

Sustainable Energy Services International (SESI) has announced the successful completion and commissioning of the Shah Delir hydroelectric plant in Parwan province, Afghanistan. This 140 kW Francis turbine is one of the more complicated turbines installed in Afghanistan and is able to synchronise and share power with other nearby community power grids, including others built by SESI.

Funded by the American Task Force for Business Stability Operations the project sets the benchmark for high quality hydro electric installation. Tony Woods, SESI managing director says the project is notable for its successful installation and commissioning in a very hostile and difficult location. “It also included overhead transmission and distribution, as well as domestic pre pay metering to ensure adequate revenue collection to support the installation’s management and technical requirements long term.”
